Brett ChosewoodAlto, GATeacher, Tutor, Lifelong Learner
Hello! My name is Brett Chosewood, and I am an English and Language Arts teacher from Georgia in the United States. I have taught both locally and abroad (in countries such as China, Dubai, and Mexico) for over twelve years. In addition, I also have extensive experience in writing, editing, and communication. My education includes a Bachelor’s in English and a Master’s in English Education (Teaching), both obtained from Piedmont College. I am also currently pursuing a PhD in English Composition from Old Dominion University.
I love teaching and tutoring because I get to work with students to meet their individual needs. Each student is unique, and I truly love helping my students achieve their goals. I want to be a valuable resource in the lives of those I help, using my experience as a student and as a teacher. Nothing makes me feel prouder than seeing my students succeed. They teach me as much as I teach them. My style of teaching involves building a strong rapport with my students, determining their individual needs, and tailoring my sessions with them to meet those needs. I try to get feedback from and assess students regularly to ensure they are understanding lesson concepts and progressing appropriately.
My greatest accomplishment was developing the entire English curriculum for a high school in Sichuan, China. I taught there for a year, and when I began my job, there was no curriculum. I assessed the needs of the students, developed the curriculum for ESL and Literature, and set appropriate bench parts. The result was that all students saw a significant increase in their TOEFL scores. My desire is to bring the same effort and success to your students!
